Application Process

Thank you for your interest in membership in the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. In order for your application to be considered, it must be completed in its entirety. Please review the following information to ensure successful submission of your application.

The ACT application is a two-part process. Part I will request specific demographic, training/degree, practice, and health information. If you need to attach any documentation or testimony to completely answer any of the questions asked in this section of the application, please do so. Please note that you must hold an advanced professional degree and a current license for your profession (if available in your locale) in order to apply for certification. The non-refundable fee for Part I is $100. Once the Credentials Committee has approved Part I of your application, you will be requested to submit Part II.

An integral aspect of membership in ACT is demonstration of clinical competence. In Part II of the application process, this competency will be independently and objectively evaluated. In order to conduct this review, we will require a case write-up, including history, formulation and treatment plan, and an audiotape of an actual cognitive therapy session that you have conducted. The fee for Part II is $300.

To your left, you will note the Candidate Handbook -- this document contains information on the application process, various policies of ACT, and also contains all of the other documents listed to the left. It is downloadable as a pdf file.

If you have any questions, please email info@academyofct.org, or call (267) 350-7683, and a member of our ACT membership office will be able to assist you. Again, thank you for your interest in ACT.
